*raises hand extra high*

Yeah, that was in response to the question, "Who just totally sucks at this whole blogging thing?"

No matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to come up with some sort of plan that works for me. It's not so much that I can't seem to post regularly...I probably should wait until I have something worth saying to post, which would see me posting far less often. But it's my blog, and I have the right to be as boring as I want, right? :)

No, it's the blog reading that causes me so much anxiety. Or rather, the lack of blog reading. :(  No matter how hard I try, I can't keep up. There are people out there I adore whose blogs I haven't visited in weeks. And my reader doesn't contain nearly as many blogs as most peoples' do. I'm just soooo frustrated. I had high hopes for yesterday...I was going to get through half the posts in my reader, and then tackle the other half today. Yeah right. With 10+ hours buried in events leading up to WWII, a few more hours spent laundering and vacuuming and scrubbing toilets and baking brownies, a couple with the normal "kid stuff" which involved an extra kid for the entire afternoon...well, I managed to slip in just a handful of posts. *sigh*

So, do I give up blogging, at least until summer when I have a little more time? No. I don't like that solution. Do I weed my reader down even further? I seriously don't think I can...I have it at bare bones right now. Do I just keep on going as I'm going but give up on feeling bad about it? Sounds good, but who can I get to reprogram my brain wiping out the enormous chunk I use on feeling guilty.

I started this day off with a major shot of happy! *hugs dear friend*
*and then hugs some more for all the sadness and grief that remain*

February 6th "Good Stuff":  Yesterday, despite its typical busyness, gave me plenty of smiles.

*Okay, this picture is obviously not from yesterday. But it's one of my favorites from last year. Just look at those three boys...can't you just tell they're up to no good?!! Yep, well, there's lots more mischief to come this August!!!
"It's real! It's real! It's reeeeeeally, reeeeeeally real!!!" That's been my chant for the last 24 hours, because Chris got his airline tickets! There are just no words to describe how incredibly happy and excited I am! :D #luvchris

*Just look at all these shiny new crayons! My darling husband was out doing the grocery shopping and running some errands yesterday...and he brought these home just for me! Aren't they just bee-yoo-tee-fool?!! (And don't even try to tell me that I'm the only "grown-up" who adores crayons, because I know better!) #luvrich

 *Double-decker kitties.

*Okay, so the photo isn't the greatest, but this bookcase is so cute and full of homemade charm. And guess how much it cost us? Nothing! Someone set it out for the trash! Rich saw it when he was driving Gray's friend home. We just had to clean off the snow and nail in a couple of brads to stabilize some loose shelves.

  1. I am envious of your new, pointy Crayons. Mins (I have the huge box, too) have very rounded tops. Yea for Crayons! Yea, too, for free bookcases, not to mention all the books that will go there. As for blogging and blog-reading, do what you can. Your blog is most definitely not boring, and I would feel a loss if you stopped posting until summer.

  2. I honestly don't think you have to worry about the whole blogging thing. You read and comment when you can, and no one expects more of you. Harder to rewire your brain, I know...

I love that picture of Chris and the boys! And crayons! And bookshelves! And good news from friends. Oh this is indeed a happy, happy post. :)

  3. I want those crayons! I just adore crayons, all those different colours.

Glad to hear you will meet up with Chris again soon. Your book shelves are awesome.

  4. Jean,
I KNEW you'd be a fellow crayon lover! Yep, just knew it! :D And you're a sweet friend to say I'm not boring...but well...I've read my blog posts too, you know.

    Amanda,
Isn't that picture of Chris and the boys great? You just know they've got something cooked up, don't you? ;)

    Vivienne,
I say you should go buy yourself a fresh, shiny new box! Not be shared with the girls, but just for you. They seriously made me so happy. :D

  5. Here, I'll wipe the "feels guilty about feed reader" part of your brain clean if you do mine. There are only so many hours in the day and having time to actually write posts and having time to actually read posts are virtually unattainable for me, so I guess I just have to stop feeling bad and read and comment when I can. And so do you. I know as well as anyone how hard it is to just make yourself stop feeling rotten about it, which is why we have to rewire each other's brains since we can't seem to do our own! LOL!

P.S. Seeing your pretty crayons makes me miss coloring, but when would I ever find the time to *color*? ;-p

  7. Don't worry about the bloggy thing, Debi! You know we still love you!!! :D

I'm a fan of crayons and colour pencils!! It's sad that I rarely use them anymore now, but they make a great collection, aren't they? And YAY about the bookshelves!

  8. wow I can't imagine crayons not being a part of anyones life! and anyone with even the smallest amount of creativity loves crayons!

and free shelves!!! holy cow! how great is that!!?!!

I have to admit here.. you have me curious about your "second hug" you sent to chris..should i be concerned?

  9. I say quit feeling guilty, blog whenever the mood strikes, and visit when you can and let it go when you cannot. That way blogging maintains the proper perspective that it should have in your life and you can have the best of both worlds, enjoyment from blogging and no guilt when you just cannot do it.

And free bookshelves, that is the bomb!!!

  10. You shouldn't feel guilty for not blogging! I try not to, anyways...

Are you and Chris still coming to Canada?

  11. First of all, I agree with everyone above..don't ever feel guilty, Debi. Though I understand. I do the same thing. But I've pretty much admitted to myself that as much as I love blogging to death, I can't do it 24/7. So I just hop on whenever I can! We'd rather hear from you occasionally than not at all :D

That's one of my favorite pics too from the NOLA trip :D Despite the stupid face I'm making, lol.

And crayons!!! I LOVE crayons! We should totally do some crayon and cool coloring book shopping when I'm down there :p

Oh, and Kelly, I hope we're still going to Canada!!!

  12. Well, I've got both hands raised as high as they go. I'm with you. I've completely and utterly shut down the past three months and I just can't seem to get back into the groove. I don't think that not blogging is the answer, but as much as it kills me I've had to take a step back from bloghopping. I've even thought about screwing the book stuff and just keeping things on a personal level (in terms of reading others' blogs). It's too much and where do you draw the line?

Anyway, I'm with you--and I'm guessing this is the good stuff post you were referring to in your post yesterday about taking a break. When there's so much pressure to keep up it gets to be way way way too much. I hope you don't quit blogging or writing your posts.

Speaking of, my limit is up and I'm going to go sneak in a bit of reading before I have to head into the office. :)
